F1 calendar confirmed: First eight European race dates announced

Carey, F1's chairman and chief government, was talking after the game revealed an eight-race preliminary calendar with the season beginning in Austria on July 5.

"A team not being able to race wouldn't cancel the race. we will have a procedure in place that finding infection will not lead to a cancelation".

The season had been due to begin in Melbourne in mid-March, but the Australian Grand Prix was called off at the 11th hour as the virus began to take hold around the world, with McLaren having already withdrawn from the event after one of their mechanics tested positive.

Spain, Belgium and Italy are also due to put on races, according to a new calendar released by Formula One organisers on Tuesday.

F1 president Chase Carey states races will certainly not be terminated as soon as the 2020 period obtains underway also if a driver or employee tests positive for coronavirus, with strategies in position if the scenario occurs.

Great news for Formula 1 fans as the sport has aid out an official 2020 schedule, at least for the European leg of the championship.

Formula One is hoping to host between 15 and 18 races with the season ending in Abu Dhabi in December after also racing in Bahrain.

The Belgian and Italian Grands Prix will take place on their original dates of August 30 and September 6, completing the European part of the season.

The second event at Silverstone, entitled the "Emirates Formula 70th Anniversary Grand Prix" will oly be shown live on Sky, with Channel 4 restricted to its usual delayed highlight package.

"Much of the world is moving forward and I think it is important to realise that the shutdown does have both health, societal and economic consequences which are real long term", he said. "If a driver has an infection, teams have reserve drivers available", Carey said.

All races are expected to be staged behind closed doors with a minimum number of team personnel at the circuit as part of plans to create as safe an environment as possible for all those taking part. There will be controlled transportation to hotels, transportation back and forth to the track from hotels, and probably within it, sub-bubbles of people who operate different functions, and it is set up to manage the processes, make sure we have the right protective equipment and social distancing.

"While we are looking forward to commencing the excitement on track it is also an important time to remember what else we can do as an global sport for the communities we visit as well as celebrating the incredible acts of kindness shown by thousands of people around the world in response to the Covid-19 crisis".
