In an interview with The Wall Street Journal published in June, Trump also said that he believed facial coverings were an affront to him politically, a sign of disapproval of his presidency from those wearing them. The new data was far better than economists expected, and together with the 2.7 million jobs won back in May means the economy has regained 7.5 million of the more than 22 million jobs lost since businesses were closed nationwide to stop the coronavirus in mid-March.
