MLS stated the six FC Dallas players were the only ones who tested positive from among the 392 people who have been tested.

The match between FC Dallas and the Vancouver Whitecaps was originally slated for Thursday.

As cases of COVID-19 surge among members of FC Dallas, the MLS announced that it has postponed the team's match against the Vancouver Whitecaps scheduled for Wednesday.

The decision to cancel the first match of the tournament comes just after news broke that several members of FC Dallas tested positive upon arriving for the tournament. The game will now be played later in the group stage, on a date yet to be announced.

MLS said the postponement would allow both teams to have additional training days in Orlando before opening tournament play.

"In consultation with MLS medical officials, FC Dallas took proactive steps to isolate the newly affected players as well as all FC Dallas players and staff in Orlando out of an abundance of caution".

Vancouver was originally scheduled to arrive on July 1, but the team's departure was delayed due to two inconclusive COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction ("PCR") test results during pre-travel screening. 3rd Degree reported a third player tested positive on Monday and then three more each on Tuesday and Wednesday.

To date, no Whitecaps players have tested positive for the virus.

FC Dallas will now open the tournament on July 15 against the Seattle Sounders, while the Whitecaps will play the San Jose Earthquakes later that day.
