Google Docs, Slides and Sheets finally getting dark mode on Android

Dark theme can also be enabled in the Docs, Sheets, or Slides apps individually by going to Menu Settings Theme Dark in each app.

Each app's dark theme can be forced to dark or light or follow your system settings. Documents can be previewed in the light theme by navigating to More in the upper-righthand corner and selecting View in light theme. The new dark theme can be enabled for each app by heading to Menu / Settings / Theme / Dark, after applying the latest update. This way, you can choose to instantly view a few files in light theme, which would come in handy on several occasions.

It said these apps will automatically adjust themselves when the Android operating system is set to use its dark theme. The accents, however, are subject to variation based on specific apps. Hence, it might take a while until it reaches your device.

We saw an early peek of how the dark theme would look through app teardown screenshots a couple of weeks ago and it appears that the implementation remains more or less intact for the public launch. I live by this aesthetic motto, and even though the pace at which developers have been adopting dark mode has been commendable, Google has so far shied away from bringing it to its own productivity apps.

Google also recently began testing a dark mode for its search page on Android devices.
