That's right, the geekiest book ever written is getting a sequel, and they even released a cover, which, looks remarkably similar to the cover of Ready Player One.

Almost a decade after Ernest Cline's Ready Player One sci-fi novel became a smash success, a sequel is on its way to ply you with even more '80s references (or perhaps we've reached the '90s now?). "It would have been a different story if I had not grown up watching Steven [Spielberg's] movies".

Ballantine Books, a subsidiary of Penguin Random House, will publish the book, which is available for pre-order now.

Ready Player One is about a virtual world of OASIS, and it features a boatload of references to video games and popular culture in general. The story follows Wade Watts and his friends as his lives his life in the OASIS, obsessively trying to locate a hidden easter egg left by James Halliday, the creator of the OASIS. Rebecca Serle of HuffPost said Ready Player One is "the grown-up's Harry Potter", with "nostalgia, trivia, adventure, romance, heart and, dare I say it, some very fascinating social commentary". Cline served as a co-writer for the film alongside Zack Penn (The Avengers).

The question of whether Ready Player Two will reach such stratospheric levels of success will be answered when the book is published on November 24. Tye Sheridan and Olivia Cooke led a cast that also included Ben Mendelsohn, Lena Waithe, and Simon Pegg, and the film went on to gross $582.8 million worldwide. Ready Player Two, the highly anticipated sequel to the novel will soon be hitting store shelves!
