Amitabh Bachchan tests positive for corona

Bollywood Actor Amitabh Bachchan on Saturday said he has tested positive for the coronavirus and has been admitted to the Nanavati hospital in Mumbai. He tweeted, "Earlier today both my father and I tested positive for COVID 19".

"I have tested COVID positive.shifted to informing and staff undergone tests, results awaited.All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested", he tweeted. His family members and other staff members had also gone for testing. "Thank you. The BMC has been in touch and we are complying with them". The actor, who has a long list of films remaining to be completed. Sound engineer Resul Pookutty, Oscar victor for "Slumdog Millionaire", tweeted: "That's how a responsible citizen behaves..." The actor himself took to Twitter to share the news with his fans.

The news of Amitabh Bachchan being infected with the coronavirus triggered a storm of reactions from fans to films stars and businessmen to politicians.

The island has reopened hotels, restaurants, bars and shops, and lifted its remaining curfew restrictions on July 1. Barbados is included on the British Government'slist of countries exempt from United Kingdom quarantine.

Widely seen as the King of Indian cinema, Amitabh has appeared in 200 films over the course of his career, which has spanned over five decades. He is also scheduled to host the season 12 of the popular quiz show, "Kaun Banega Crorepati".

With 850,000 positive cases, India is now the third highest coronavirus affected country in the world, after the USA and Brazil. There have been 22,687 deaths so far, according to official figures.
