Fans of the show were understandably delighted to hear the news that we can expect an extra season of the royal show and took to the comments to share their excitement.

Peter Morgan has changed his mind on abdicating The Crown after five seasons.

The Netflix show follows the story of Queen Elizabeth II throughout her years as the head of the the Royal Family, focusing on defining and pivotal moments that happened since she took the throne.

Great news for fans of Netflix's The Crown: after originally announcing that it'd end after season 5, Netflix has chose to go back to the original plan of making six seasons.

Then, six months ago, after casting Imelda Staunton to take over the lead role from Olivia Colman after season four, he announced that he'd chose to go only five seasons.

Writer-creator Morgan said, "As we started to discuss the storylines for Series 5, it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons". At the time, the show's fifth season was set to see the Royal Family entering the 21st century, but it appears producers will now simply add another season's worth of stories into the timeline, perhaps allowing for more episodes focused on Prince Charles (Josh O'Connor) and Princess Diana (Emma Corrin). It's expected that season four will launch later this year, and will be Oscar victor Colman's final turn as Queen.

State COVID Cases Increase But Local Hospitalizations Remain Low
The number of daily coronavirus tests in Pennsylvania reached a new high with 18,617 reported Friday. Two deaths were reported on Friday; the location of those deaths has not yet been disclosed.

To date on the streaming service Netflix there are three series available to be streamed.

That doesn't mean we'll be seeing the adventures of Harry and Meghan on "The Crown".

It was announced in January this year that they were going to cut the series from the six planned seasons to five.

Six months later, though, they're back to the original plan.

Netflix also shared the news on Thursday, writing, "News from the palace: we can confirm there will be a sixth (and final) season of @TheCrownNetflix, in addition to the previously announced five!"
