"Moving the mask around, getting it sitting just right, I am bound to have put some virus on the mask that I sucked in".

Speier went on to say Gohmert is now stuck in D.C. he certainly can't fly with the virus, and he doesn't have a home in the Nation's capitol, so he sleeps in the Capitol, in his office. Gohmert walked in close proximity to Barr in the hallway when neither man was wearing a mask. Later, he told KETK TV that he may have acquired the virus incorrectly wearing his mask.

"In the meantime, my work schedule and the lives of my employees are disrupted", Grijalva said.

As Berman brought this up Thursday on New Day, he offered well-wishes to Gohmert, but he also had a few comments about Gohmert's attitude to public health guidelines.

"That will start just in the next day or two", the lawmaker said.

An aide to Gohmert sent an extraordinary email to Politico after it broke the news of Gohmert's diagnosis suggesting that the congressman's entire staff had been ordered to continue going to work amid the pandemic in order to be an example of how the nation could safely reopen, and that those who wore masks had been berated for doing so.

The Senate has not implemented formal mask requirements.

In a tweet today, Nadler said: "When individuals refuse to take the necessary precautions it puts everyone at risk".

"Wear a damn mask", said Democratic representative Jennifer Wexton from Virginia.

Multiple GOP senators said Wednesday they were pushing McConnell to allow expanded testing.

Blunt said he believes that lawmakers who are traveling should be tested every time they travel, and that staff and others should be tested occasionally. Still, he said McConnell and the Capitol physician would have to be on board for that to happen, and he doesn't know why they aren't.
