Man City have £41m bid for Nathan Ake accepted by relegated Bournemouth

City seem to have been missing a leader at centre-back and Ake hasn't shown leadership qualities whilst a Bournemouth despite the obvious defensive knowledge he possesses.

Manchester City have reportedly seen a £41 million bid accepted by Bournemouth for centre-back Nathan Ake.

However, the Citizens nine defeats (compared to Liverpool's three) saw them finish 18 points adrift of the champions, with Pep Guardiola having been forced to play for a large part of the season with a makeshift defence, his decision not to replace Vincent Kompany last summer compounded by a three-and-a-half-month injury layoff to Aymeric Laporte.

There was expected to be strong interest in the 25-year-old this summer, with his departure becoming nearly inevitable when Bournemouth's relegation was confirmed last weekend.

The Netherlands worldwide has gone on to make 146 Premier League appearances, scoring 12 goals and keeping 30 clean sheets. City announced the signing of the player in a statement on their website on Wednesday, adding that the player signed a five-year deal but the move is subject to worldwide clearance.
