Amid the continued COVID-19 pandemic, Facebook will give most of its staff the choice to work at home till July 2021.

With the COVID-19 pandemic hardly showing any sign of slowing down, Google last month said it would allow its almost 2 lakh employees to work from home till the middle of next year if their roles permit.

The social-media giant could be looking at having most of its workforce work remotely on a permanent basis within a decade. Several corporate giants took the same decision offering work from home along with setting up a home office for their employees to make themselves comfortable.

In response to Facebook, most of its staff have been working remotely since mid-March, when quarantine orders within the US first went into impact. "In addition, we are giving employees an additional $1,000 for home office needs".

Currently, Facebook plans to reopen offices in a restricted capacity in areas where government guidance allows for it, and where there has been virus mitigation for approximately two months. A spokeswoman said that they are concerned about the health of the employees and offered work from home till July 2021.

The battery supposedly lasts up to 24 hours, which is good to know as the Pixel 4 wasn't exactly great in that department. The budget-minded Pixel 4a is coming out four months after Apple released a discount iPhone , the SE, priced at US$399.

The company added that it was, however, unlikely that many offices would reopen in the U.S. and Latin America before 2020-end, considering the high number of COVID-19 cases.

In May, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg conducted a public live-streamed "town hall" meeting with employees dedicated on remote work and how to implement the same.

With this, Facebook has now joined Google which had earlier said that it would allow its employees who do not need to be in the office to work from home until the end of June 2021.

According to Facebook, most of its employees have been working remotely since mid-March, when quarantine orders in the US first went into effect.
