The conversation with Netanyahu and bin Zayed "was like love", Trump continued.

The peace deal was struck after several discussions were held between the officials of Israel, UAE and the United States.

Israel and the UAE have restored diplomatic ties after inking a deal with the U.S. that will see Tel Aviv temporarily shelve its annexation of the West Bank and Jordan Valley to focus on improving relations with its neighbors.

Netanyahu re-tweeted Trump's remarks, and wrote "A historic day", without providing further details.

"HUGE breakthrough today!" Trump commented.

The agreement marks only the third Israel-Arab peace deal since Israel's declaration of independence in 1948.

"The United States hopes that this fearless step will be the first in a series of agreements that ends 72 years of hostilities in the region", Pompeo said.

Trump said, "This deal is a significant step towards building a more peaceful, secure and prosperous Middle East".

The United States was also part of efforts to normalize Israel's relations with Egypt and Jordan decades ago.

"Things are happening that I can't talk about", he said.

The statement said that as "a result of this diplomatic breakthrough and at the request of President Trump with the support of the United Arab Emirates, Israel will suspend declaring sovereignty" over areas of the West Bank that were envisioned in the USA peace plan unveiled by Trump in January.

Emirati and Israeli officials will meet in the near future to sign bilateral agreements on technology, investment, security, travel, energy, culture, healthcare, and the environment, among other issues, as well as to discuss establishing mutual embassies.

Trump said he expects other Muslim-majority countries in the region to follow suit.

The United Arab Emirates and Israel will immediately expand and accelerate cooperation regarding the treatment of and the development of a vaccine for the coronavirus. As set forth in the Vision for Peace, all Muslims who come in peace may visit and pray at the Al Aqsa Mosque, and Jerusalem's other holy sites should remain open for peaceful worshippers of all faiths.
