The theater chain announced in June that it was set to reopen on July 15, but was delayed to July 30 due to a lack of movies being offered by studios.

In an email sent to the company's "A List" members on Wednesday, the theater chain announced that movies will resume starting August 20.

"We are thrilled to once again open our doors to American moviegoers who are looking for an opportunity to get out of their houses and apartments and escape into the magic of the movies".

But now it appears that AMC will finally reopen since some new films like Disney's "New Mutants" on August 28 and "Tenet" on September 3 are set, at least for now, to be released.

The remainder of AMC's US theaters will open only after authorized to do so by state and local officials. "'Tenet, ' following Disney's August 28 release of 'The New Mutants'".

But at 270 grams (over half a pound) - almost 100 times that of a typical surgical mask - it is not likely to be a practical accessory to wear.

The theater chain is offering $0.15 movie tickets-roughly the cost of a movie back in 1920 back when the company's founders, the Dubinsky Brothers, began operations with a single movie screen in Kansas City, Missouri.

AMC said it will fill the gaps in its schedules with hit films like "Beauty and the Beast", "Black Panther", "Inception" and more at just $5 plus tax per ticket.

Movie theaters were among the countless number of public gathering places forced to close early in the spring as the highly contagious coronavirus swept across the nation and around the world.

Theaters also will have disinfectant wipes available.

Additionally, AMC is limiting seating capacity and adding extra time between showings so each auditorium can be cleaned, with guests able to expect "continuous extra cleaning and disinfecting of high traffic areas".
