He'll be starring alongside Imelda Staunton (as the Queen) and Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret. Pryce, 73, will follow "Outlander" star Tobias Menzies, 46, who plays Philip in Seasons 3 and 4, while "Doctor Who" star Matt Smith, 37, plays the youngest incarnation of Philip in the first two seasons.

The Netflix series premiered in 2016, and kicked things off with Claire Foy as Queen Elizbeth II, Matt Smith as Prince Philip, and Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret.

The Crown has found its new Prince Philip in the shape of Oscar-nominated Welsh actor Jonathan Pryce. Olivia Colman now plays the Queen, and Prince Philip is played by Tobias Menzies.

A source told The Sun: "Jonathan was the only name which was discussed to play Philip, and the creators were thrilled he agreed to join the cast".

Seasons 1-3 of The Crown are already available for streaming on Netflix.

Pryce is known for playing the High Sparrow in Game Of Thrones, and more.

According to Deadline, the fifth season will not film until June next year - meaning fans may have to wait until 2022 to see Pryce play Philip.

News of Pryce's casting comes just over a month after The Crown showrunner Peter Morgan confirmed that the massive Netflix series would be coming back for a sixth and final season, after originally saying the plan was to end after Season 5.

The Crown's latest season was nominated for 13 Emmy gongs for its latest season, including Outstanding Lead Actress (Colman), Outstanding Supporting Actress (Bonham Carter), and Outstanding Drama Series.
