Going back to the tech community blog post Microsoft has made sure businesses will warm to the Surface Duo with its custom engineered Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) which enables full control over firmware components - for "Enterprise-grade security".

The Surface Duo is Microsoft's first Surface device running Android and features a unique form factor that makes it hard to compare directly to other devices.

The Surface Duo runs a heavily skinned version of Android, and any Android app will run on the device without modification.

Display: Two 5.6-inch AMOLED screens at 1350p resolution (1,800 x 1,350), 4:3 aspect ratio.

Microsoft's hinge-and-two-screen approach is less futuristic than devices from the likes of Samsung Electronics Co. with a single screen that folds in the middle. "Use Surface Duo in Compose mode to quickly respond to an email, or tilt it into portrait for a more immersive way to scroll through web pages or photos", Panay said.

Xbox Series X Release Date Confirmed, 'Halo Infinite' Delayed To 2021
Lee says that "it is not sustainable for the well-being of our team or the overall success of the game to ship it this holiday". Currently, the only concrete information we do have is that the Xbox Series X console will be released in November.

Meanwhile, for the 360-degree hinge, custom-designed cables are used to tie the two displays together, Panay said. "We know dual-screen devices not only help people complete complex tasks faster but also require less cognitive effort, making them universally preferred for productivity tasks". The Surface Duo has appeared on Canada's UL LLC and Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.

"Surface Duo has protection built in at every layer with integrated hardware, firmware and software to keep your devices, identities, and data secure", the company said. Both 4K and 1080p video recording are supported at 30fps and 60fps, with electronic image stabilization. Developers will be able to optimize the layout of their apps to take advantage of the dual displays. Microsoft is also using specifically-designed algorithms to instruct apps to open on the correct display depending on the user's needs. It is the thinnest Surface ever, with screens that unfold completely to serve as a phone or act like a book to provide more space for different apps.

The Surface Duo will work on that network, Verizon and T-Mobile, Reuters adds, but it does not support 5G connectivity. It is powered by a Snapdragon 855 chip and has 6GB of RAM along with 128GB and 256GB storage configurations. Orders will begin shipping on September 10.

Unfortunately, there's no word on what the actual price in Australia will be yet.
