The Sheriff's Office said that a criminal investigation of the incident will be turned over to the Clayton County District Attorney's Office.

According to his attorney, 26-year-old Walker was arrested and beaten after deputies pulled over the vehicle he was riding in Friday with his girlfriend, their 5-month-old child and his stepson for an alleged broken taillight and asked for his identification. "He did nothing wrong", ABC News quoted his mother Tywauna C. Walker as saying during a news conference in front of the Clayton County Jail on September 12, 2020. When he questioned why, since he was a passenger, the officers ordered him to exit the vehicle, Williams said.

Roderick Walker, 26, remained locked up at the Clayton County Jail on Sunday, two days after video surfaced showing him being held on the ground by two Clayton County sheriff's deputies and being pummeled by one as he cried out "I can't breathe" and as his 5-year-old son sat in a vehicle screaming, "Daddy".

In the same video, deputies pin Walker down and appear to have him in a hold around his neck. "I can't breathe." Walker was then arrested for obstruction of justice.

"I was just hurt because I wasn't there to protect him", Tywauna Walker said.

One of the deputies punched him in the left forehead several times. When the deputies get off him, he is bleeding from his nose and appears to have lost consciousness.

At least one child can he heard screaming in the background. Deputies asked Walker-who was not the driver-for his license, lawyers said.

That's when the deputy reportedly told the man to "get out [of] the auto".

Another video shot from afar shows a boy inside a auto parked next to the scene, yelling, "Daddy!"

According to a press release, there is an investigation underway in what police described as "a video posted on social media involving a Deputy using physical force on a man". An attorney for Walker said the incident quickly escalated after a ride-share vehicle Walker was a passenger in was pulled over for a routine traffic violation.

Walker has received medical attention and no skull fractures were detected on x-ray scans. "And they take him to jail".

A police report shows that Walker was booked on two separate counts of obstructing or hindering law enforcement officers and two separate counts of battery.

The sheriff's office said a court denied bond for Walker because of outstanding warrants, including a felony probation warrant out of Fulton County for cruelty to children and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The state was racked with protests after George Floyd's death in May, and again when Rayshard Brooks was shot and killed by Atlanta police officers in June.

"We are demanding, in light of what occurred and can be seen in the video, that he be released immediately", Williams said.
