PlayStation 4 owners are getting an early treat from Raven Software and Treyarch, as they will be launching the Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War alpha on September 18. And it's coming exclusively to the PlayStation 4 on September 18th at 10:00am PST. Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War is slated for release on 13 November, 2020.

Details about the alpha weekend aren't the only Call of Duty-related bits of information worthy of note.

The Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Alpha has a September 18 release date, and a 6pm BST start time for fans living in the UK.

Players will be able to preload the 25 GB alpha on September 17, the day before the Cold War Alpha begins.

You will only be able to enjoy the multiplayer sample until September 20th where it will end at the exact same hours listed above. To do so, search for the game on the PlayStation Store, and the option to preload will be available for all PlayStation Plus users, no code required. A host of maps will feature during the alpha session, as well. This is a direct sequel to the original Black Ops title and takes players back to the 1980s at the height of the Cold War. Between the 10th and 12th, the PlayStation 4 beta is open to all PS4 owners regardless of if you pre-ordered or not. The second open beta commences on the 17th, and that's when every player on every platform can get involved, no pre-order needed.

Which is great news for all those Call of Duty fans on a PlayStation and mildly indifferent news to players on PC and Xbox.
