Week 2 in the National Football League has been extremely unkind to the health and longevity of its star players, and Nick Bosa of the San Francisco 49ers is among the victims of the flood of injuries.

Losing Bosa for the season would leave a large void in San Francisco's defense.

But any postgame jubilation was doused after they learned they likely will be without their best defensive player, Nick Bosa, for the rest of the season and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo for a game or more. George Kittle (knee) was inactive for the game.

Roadside fans still cheered them on, mostly through face masks, but were kept well away at stage starts and finishes. The birth of the Pogacar supernova is now set to ripple across the cycling galaxy for years to come.

San Francisco lost both defensive end Nick Bosa and defensive tackle Solomon Thomas to left knee injuries earlier in the game. The cart came out shortly after an evaluation from team trainers, and Bosa was carted to the locker room with 6:45 remaining in the first quarter. Their top receivers, Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, did not see the field in Week 1. Tight end George Kittle did not make the trip to NY while he rehabs a strained knee.

Garoppolo's high-ankle sprain kept him off the field in the second half of San Francisco's 31-13 victory, and coach Kyle Shanahan suggested it would also sideline him for the team's upcoming matchup with the Giants.
