Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Tyrod Taylor is week-to-week with the chest injury that kept him out of Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs, a source told Adam Schefter of ESPN. He should not be benched in favor of Tyrod Taylor.

Patrick Mahomes completed less than half of his passes in the first half for only the third time in his career but rallied to finish 27 of 47 for 302 yards and two touchdowns. "We did not give up any explosive plays the first half".

The Los Angeles Chargers indicated throughout the offseason that they did not want to rush rookie quarterback Justin Herbert into the starting lineup, but the first-round pick only ended up riding the bench for a week. "At that point in time, I thought I would give us a chance to extend the game and it didn't work out".

"I think unfortunately since we lost, I can't say too well but there's definitely things I did poorly and there's going to be things I'm going to look at on film and watch", said Herbert following the game.

Mahomes was 18 of 25 for 222 yards and a touchdown on the final four drives, which resulted in a TD and three field goals.

Herbert joined Newton and Otto Graham as the only players with 300 passing yards and a rushing touchdown in an National Football League debut.

Herbert is the first player since Bob Clatterbuck of the New York Giants in 1954 to pass and run for a TD in the first half of his debut.

Murray continues to show why the Cardinals were so desperate to draft him with the number one pick past year after inspiring a 30-15 victory against the Washington Football Team. "We just have to know that's how teams are going to try to attack when they've got a quarterback that can run".

The drive was extended when an apparent interception by Chargers defensive back Desmond King was nullified by an offside penalty by defensive tackle Jerry Tillery.
