Island Health suffers large jump in new COVID-19 cases since June

Health officials say that 86 people who live outside Canada have tested positive for COVID-19 in B.C.

Clark County recorded 95 new cases and one new death since Friday in data released Monday by Clark County Public Health.

There were also four deaths that took place over the weekend, bringing the total number of fatalities in BC to 227.

"As of Monday, 1,534 of the 3,635 patients have been cured, while 20 others passed away, sta" / The National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC) stated that of the 193 new infections, 92 were reported in the western Adjara region. Of those active cases, 60 people are in hospital, including 21 in critical or intensive care. There is one new outbreak in the health care system, and one that's been declared over.

Hector Gomez, administrator of the Bureau, Putnam & Marshall County Health Departments, said Bureau County most likely will remain at the warning level for a few more weeks.

The province said that 5,972 individuals who tested positive have now recovered. Henry stressed that the province will continue giving daily updates throughout the election, uninterrupted, including twice-weekly live events.

Given the early election announced hours earlier, Health Minister Adrian Dix wasn't present at the briefing.
