The Sparta Township school district announced Sunday that positive COVID-19 tests among students will suspend extracurricular activities for the next two weeks. Last week, Stella Maris Catholic Elementary School in AMherstburg and L'Essor high school in Tecumseh reported cases.

As a result of the positive tests, the district announced that it was suspending all athletics and activities for 14 days, with practice to resume October 5.

A total of 76 students from South Fork High School have met the district's requirements for quarantining protocol. Sahodaya Group has chose to keep schools closed till September 30.

Approximately 87% of students were in school on September 17, which is down from 88% on September 10, according to the Government figures.

The school board said high-risk contacts from both cases are being contacted, and that public health officials will provide individual guidance to them.

Those identified as being high-risk at Huron Heights will be asked to self-isolate until at least October 1, and maybe longer if they become symptomatic.

Schools of unaided association said they had good response on the first day. "We are keeping a watch on the situation", said group secretary S Joseph.

The school district did not say if a student or staff has the coronavirus but said they did not have siblings at the other schools or ride buses so the other schools can stay open.
