Woman suspected of sending letter with ricin poison to White House detained

Federal agents, Secret Service, and US Postal Inspection Service are now trying to detect if any other poisonous packages were sent to public officials, but the FBI said that at the moment, there is no known threat to public safety.

The law enforcement source, familiar with the case but speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters the "suspicious letter" referred to in the Federal Bureau of Investigation statement was the same as the envelope found to have contained ricin.

The envelope was intercepted at a government mail center before it arrived at the White House. The ricin-laced letter was intercepted at the final offsite processing facility where mail is screened before being sent to the White House mail room, reported Daily Mail.

The letter is said to have originated from Canada, Royal Canadian Mounted Police have said.

The FBI said Saturday that it was investigating a suspicious letter addressed to President Trump.
