Deepika Padukone leaves NCB office after interrogation

Actor Deepika Padukone, who was summoned by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in connection with the drug chats with her manager Karishma Prakash, has now consulted her legal team.

Actors Shraddha Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan are also being questioned by the NCB officials on Saturday as the central agency investigates the Bollywood drugs case, in the wake of the probe into actor Sushant Singh Rajput's untimely death. An NCB source said, "The phones of Deepika, Karishma, Rakul and Khambatta have been seized by the NCB under the Indian Evidence Act".

The NCB is now investigating the drugs angle in the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death.

Director Karan Johar meanwhile, who has also been a target of TV channels and social media users since Rajput´s death, released a statement on Friday rejecting claims that drugs were consumed at a party that he hosted at his home past year.

Shraddha Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan were spotted leaving the NCB office at around the same time.

During the interrogation both of them denied consuming drugs. She has now reached the NCB office, after consulting her lawyers before her questioning.

The officer added that Rhea, during her round of grilling with the NCB, said that "doob" was marijuana.

KWAN CEO Dhruv Chitgopekar and film producer Madhu Mantena also appeared before the NCB for questioning in the matter.

According to the official, the Mumbai police has deployed adequate security outside the NCB office.

According to some reports, Deepika was one of the "admins" of a certain WhatsApp group wherein drugs were allegedly discussed. Can't the authorities sniff them out? Her statement is also being recorded, reportedly. However, the "Simmba" star admitted to having close relationships with late actor Sushant Singh Rajput during the filming of "Kedarnath" in February 2018.

The federal agency had arrested actress Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, and some suspected drug peddlers, earlier.

Rajput (34) was found hanging in his apartment in suburban Bandra on June 14.
