Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hit back at suggestions that he might be frustrated with Manchester United's transfer activity this summer, saying it was disrespectful to Donny van de Beek.

Manchester United have been linked with a host of players in recent weeks, including Borussia Dortmund attacker Jadon Sancho, but the Red Devils appear to be no closer towards completing any more signings.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said suggestions Donny van de Beek is not enough to improve the club's squad this summer are disrespectful to the midfielder.

The Arsenal legend has spoken highly of the 23-year-old Netherlands global, who moved to United from Ajax in the summer transfer window.

"I missed four or five months and in my mind, I could have done much more this season".

Having worked his way through a famed academy system, an Eredivise and KNVB Cup double was savoured in 2018-19 - while runs to the Europa League final and last four of the Champions League have also been taken in.

Pogba, Fernandes and Van de Beek can you put the three of them in the team?

"It is not an issue that emerged the other day".

"They have got to want to be a part of this team going forward, be a part of this culture". I think he would prefer a 22-yard box.

Manchester United are in League Cup action on Wednesday night when they once again travel to face Brighton and Hove Albion, this time in the fourth round of the competition.

Danny Murphy has suggested that playing both Pogba and Fernandes leaves United lacking in defensive areas, after conceding five times in their opening two league games.
