Chesapeake Energy Arena to host NCAA men's basketball tournament in 2026

"We look forward to hosting this marquee event in six of the next seven years, beginning in 2021, and we know these championships will continue to produce many powerful and memorable moments".

The uptown arena will host first- and second-round games as the NCAA announced future sites from 2022 through 2026. It will be just the third NCAA basketball championship event ever held in the downtown Atlanta arena. "The NCAA has complete confidence in the University of Minnesota as the host institution for these collegiate championships, and the procurement of these events further cements the region's national status as a proven championship-caliber host community".

Also, the Greensboro Coliseum will host first- and second-round games in 2023, with the ACC serving as host. "To host the 2025 NCAA Men's Basketball and 2026 NCAA DI Men's Wrestling Championships twice within an eight-year period, is an incredible accomplishment for any destination; yet if any city can achieve this, it's Cleveland". Notre Dame is set to host the 2022 NCAA Championship at the Castellan Family Fencing Center at the Joyce Center.

PNC Arena is scheduled to be home to the first and second rounds of the Division I men's tournament in 2021 on March 19 and 21. The NCAA previously had awarded the Division I championships to Eugene in 2021 and 2022.

"We couldn't be more excited to host these championships and showcase to the country what Salt Lake City and the state of Utah has to offer", Utah athletics director Mark Harlan said in a statement. More than 54,000 student-athletes compete in NCAA championships each year. The 2026 women's ice hockey semifinals and finals will be at Penn State's Pegula Ice Arena.
