Newton Board of Elections works to reduce in-person voting wait time

All requests received from voters from Oct. 12 through Oct. 15 will be mailed by the board on Oct. 15.

Pockets of communities near Ann Arbor, Lansing, Traverse City and Marquette are among the areas of MI with the most absentee ballots turned in so far.

Early voting kicks off Thursday in Sampson County and across the state, and voters will see larger polling sites to accommodate social distancing amid the pandemic, especially with the large turnout anticipated for the 2o2o Presidential Election.

In a July 17 emergency order, State Board of Elections Executive Director Karen Bell cited her emergency powers in declaring that election workers conduct business while wearing face coverings at voting centers and Election Day precincts.

The Office of the Hudson County Clerk's Division of Elections is offering extended hours three days next week for voters to pick up a ballot or cast their vote, officials said. Early voting will extend from October 15 to October 31.

Elections BC is warning voters that some people could receive their mail-in ballot after the recommended return deadline.

In the central belt, people will also be asked to avoid public transport and not travel outside this area unless they must. Professional sports can go ahead but contact sports and training for over 18s will be put on hold for the same period.

An unprecedented number of Americans are voting by mail this year to avoid COVID-19 risk.

A second early voting location will be open from 8 6 p.m. during the week of October 26-30 at the Porter Memorial Library, on located on Highway 212 across from Denny Dobbs Park.

The top map is divided by county, the bottom by city and township.

Voters who don't want to wait for their absentee ballot by mail can come to the Board of Elections office to vote Early In-Person.

"By Friday, we will have all requests fulfilled", said Breckel "We thank voters for their patience and apologize for the delay in receiving their ballots". Voters who wish to change party affiliation or who have changed name or address must have done so by the registration deadline.

Wrong date: Voters who choose to mail in their ballot and mistakenly put their birthday on the outer declaration envelope instead of the date they are signing it need not worry that their ballot won't be counted.
