"Where Is Our Love Song", meanwhile, was inspired by "all the confusion, all the hate, the east versus west, left versus right: a heartbreak", Wonder said. His last song was "Faith" with Ariana Grande in 2016 for the movie "Sing".

Detroit-raised Stevie Wonder is parting ways with the Motown record label after almost 60 years, releasing two songs on his own new subsidiary of Republic Records, and teasing more to come. All the proceeds from the song will go to the charity Feeding America to provide aid during the coronavirus pandemic.

Instead they were released under Wonder's So What The Fuss Music - distributed through Universal Music Group's Republic Records.

Wonder had been with Motown since 1961, when, at the age of 11, he got signed by Berry Gordy Jr. He is now 70. The first one is "Can't Put It in The Hands of Fate", a funky jam featuring guest appearances from Rapsody, Cordae, Chika, and Busta Rhymes.

The 25-time Grammy Award victor said he started writing Where Is Our Love Song when he was 18.

He said: "Then came this year".

"I was listening to the old things I had done and neer finished the worlds to", he said. But, he was inspired to rewrite it after "thinking about where we (are) in the world and thinking about how this is the most crucial time", the AP reported.

Mooting plans for a potential EP, the iconic songwriter hinted towards his first new album in some 15 years. "Ain't nobody got time to wait", he said.

Can anyone capture the ineffable pleasures of love better than Stevie Wonder? Not just Black people or people of colour but young people everywhere are going, 'This is not acceptable.' Change is right now.

"We can't put it the hands of fate, finding a cure for this terrible virus".
