FIR against Kangana and sister Rangoli

As per ANI, the court has asked the Mumbai Police to take this step against Kangana and her sister on the allegations levelled by a complainant.

A Bandra metropolitan court has ordered an FIR to be registered against Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel over alleged "hatred" and "communal" tweets.

The order by Bandra 12th Court Magistrate Jaidev Ghule came in a plea by Munawwarali alias Sahil A Sayyed, a Bollywood casting director, said his lawyer Ravish F Zamindar. The complaint mentions her recent tweets where she compared the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) to Babur Sena, claiming that she is the first person to make movies on Jhansi Ki Rani (Manikarnika) and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and comparing Mumbai to POK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir).

The women were booked under sections pertaining to committing malicious or deliberate acts with the intention of outraging religious feelings of citizens, sedition, promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence or language and common intention of the Indian Penal Code.

As per the report, metropolitan magistrate Jaydeo Khule said in his order that on prima facie perusal of complaint and submissions, he found that cognizable offence has been committed by the accused. He said that an investigation was needed to ascertain the motive behind their tweets and to find out "who are the people backing such hatred to create communal tensions an sentiments against the government".

The complainant also accused Ranaut of portraying the film industry as a hub of nepotism, communal bias and drugs, according to The Indian Express.

Recently, Karnataka Police also filed an FIR against Kangana for her tweets regarding farmers after the bill had been passed in the parliament.

Citing her tweets about the Palghar lynching where she referred to the BMC as "Babur Sena", Sayyed said "Kangana is creating divisions between Hindu artistes and Muslim maliciously bringing religion in nearly all her tweets".
