Another Manatee resident dies from COVID-19, while 50 more test positive

Nationally, as of midnight Saturday, October 17, the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) has been notified of 1,283 confirmed cases of Covid-19.

Hospitalizations have grown in recent days, with 751 COVID-19 patients in county medical centers as of Sunday.

The 50 deaths is the most reported on a Sunday since the 51 reported on August 23. About 9% of those people tested positive. There is now a total of 49,962 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Ireland.

The county's overall positivity rate, or percent of positive cases out of all tests conducted, has remained at or around 10.8% since early September.

The new cases include 62 females and 17 males. This Sunday's case count is the highest reported on a usual Sunday (excluding last week's combined Saturday and Sunday numbers) since 2,564 on September 6.
