Kings XI Punjab came out on top at the end of an incredible Indian Premier League contest with Mumbai Indians which could only be decided after two Super Overs in Dubai. While Bumrah dismissed Nicholas Pooran with the second ball, before trapping KL Rahul, who tried a reverse ramp shot, lbw off the last ball, Shami too was on the ball with his yorkers as he restricted Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock. Pollard remained unbeaten on 34 off just 12 balls with one boundary and four sixes.

Rahul started the proceedings with a single before Pooran got out on the second ball.

Rahul, the leading run-scorer in this year's IPL, was looking imperious, though, and with the help of Deepak Hooda took his side into the final three overs in a strong position. The superb bowling by KXIP pacer Mohammed Shami in the first Super over where he successfully defended six runs didn't go in vain as KXIP finally managed to win the game after second Super Over. Chris Jordan bowled the second Super Over for KXIP. Boult had held his nerve to take it to the last ball and hit his yorker again, Jordan pushed it out towards long on but seemed to take a long route back for the second.

The laws dictate that a second Super Over requires a change of bowler and batsmen so Jordan took the ball for Kings XI with Pollard, perhaps surprisingly overlooked for the first one-over shootout, and Hardik Pandya in for Mumbai. Going for the second run off the last ball, Kings XI's Chris Jordan was run out when he ran two pitches off the main pitch, sprinting around in a circle to be eventually beaten by Pollard's brilliant throw to the wicketkeeper.

Earlier, Mumbai scored 176/6 in 20 overs after Sharma won the toss and chose to bat. With 5 needed from 4, Mayank went aerial over the off-side to hit a four and then closed out the game. In what was his third consecutive half-century, MI wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock top-scored for his team with his 53 (43) including three fours and sixes each.

While the two put up a 58-run stand, they got out in the space of 20 runs.

However, what transpired after that was a treat to the eyes as Kieron Pollard (unbeaten 34 off 12) and Coulter-Nile (24 not out off 12) collected 54 runs in the last three overs to take their side to an imposing total on a hard double-paced track. While Rahul continued his merry ways to take KXIP past fifty in the powerplay, KXIP lost Mayank and Gayle before the halfway stage of the chase.

FALL OF WICKETS: 1-33 (Mayank, 3.3), 2-75 (Gayle, 9.1), 3-108 (Pooran, 12.5), 4-115 (Maxwell, 13.3), 5-153 (Rahul, 17.3), 6-176 (Jordan, 19.6).

Hooda and Jordan though made sure that KXIP stayed in the hunt before the latter got out on the final ball, with scores levelled.
