The President's surrogates continued taking aim at Whitmer a day after the President amplified his supporters' "lock her up" chants against her. Whitmer has been a target of Trump's ire for months, but he has been renewing his attacks on her ever since she tied his rhetoric to the recently-foiled militia plot to kidnap and murder her.

"Lock her up, heh", Trump chuckled, allowing the chant to continue.

Whitmer wrote on Twitter on Saturday: "This is exactly the rhetoric that has put me, my family, and other government officials' lives in danger while we try to save the lives of our fellow Americans".

"I'm glad that President Trump's [Department of Justice] was able to get these psychopaths and put them away", Miller said, "but the fact of the matter is, people in MI want to get their state opened back up".

The predominant face of opposition to Trump's preferred hands-off approach in MI is Governor Gretchen Whitmer.

It was Woods performance in the Players Championship that really caught the eye, with rounds of 65 and 69 during the weekend. With the leaders in the US Open normally hovering around par, this produces a great opportunity for Woods to capitalize.

The Democrat Governor of MI has imposed some of the toughest restrictions on businesses and other activities in the state amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, speaking on ABC's "This Week", said Trump's statements were "irresponsible" and accused him of injecting fear tactics.

Earlier this month, Trump slammed Whitmer for having done "a awful job" after she "locked down her state for everyone, except her husband's boating activities". Every single time the President does this at a rally, the violent rhetoric towards her immediately escalates on social media. "These were sick individuals".

At a rally in MI on Saturday, Trump blasted Whitmer for keeping her state on lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic, leading the crowd to chant, "lock her up." .

President Trump's daughter-in-law and senior adviser to his re-election campaign, Lara Trump, took to CNN's State of the Union to insist the president was just "having fun at a Trump rally", and that "He wasn't doing anything, I don't think, to provoke people to threaten this woman at all".
