Google Maps Loses Addresses on Android Auto After Android 11 Update

It is not known whether the new mode includes all of the features that Google mentioned during last year's announcement.

Although, it is still unclear if the feature is rolled out only for some users as a part of some test or it will be coming out for all users as the company introduced it will be at the 2019 conference.

Driving mode would launch on Assistant once the user connects their phone to the car's Bluetooth.

The new Driving Mode is accessible by tapping your photo in the Google Maps app, pressing on "Navigation settings, ' and finally selecting 'Google Assistant settings". Apart from that, the Google Assistant Driving Mode UI that Google demoed at I/O 2019 was different from what is being rolled out for users. As reported by XDA Developers, Google has partially enabled the assistant driving mode for some Android users.

After the driving mode goes live on your device, you should see a new menu on the assistant's settings screen that lets you enable and disable this feature and configure other options, such as letting go of messages while driving and ignoring incoming calls. Strangely, though, toggling "driving mode" on this page doesn't actually disable the new navigation UI for me, and I'm also unable to activate Google Assistant's Driving Mode through a voice command.

The rollout of Google Assistant Driving Mode on my devices doesn't seem to be tied to any particular version of Google Maps and the Google App. Now when using Android Auto the Favorites, Home, Work, Recent places are all empty, even though they show up just fine in the Google Maps app.

Tapping the newly updated description opens a new Driving Mode page, which also can not be activated through Voice Assistant, as reports say. The navigation UI that I'm seeing is the same one that a handful of users saw a few weeks ago, and I've discovered a new settings page that further corroborates that this new navigation UI is indeed part of Google Assistant's driving mode. This means that you can interact using voice commands.

Google has also officially announced to remove the "Trusted Contacts" feature from all of their platforms and will soon be pulling down Google Hangouts as well, shifting the contacts from Hangouts to Google Chats. We'll have to wait for an official announcement from the company.
