On October 23, Friday, the MS Dhoni-led squad tasted a humiliating defeat against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians (MI) by as many as 10 wickets.

However, both fell for a duck each, with Gaekwad falling leg before to Trent Boult and Jagadeesan getting caught in slips off Jasprit Bumrah, leaving the team tottering at three runs for the loss of three wickets.

Ishan Kishan emerged as a hero for MI with his quickfire innings of 68* off 37 while Quinton de Kock also played a vital cog by smashing 46* off 37. Bumrah claimed Narayan Jagadeesan's wicket in his subsequent delivery, reducing the CSK to 3-3 in two overs. This was the first time that Chennai Super Kings lost a game by a margin of 10 wickets in the history of their IPL onslaught as things just seem to go from bad to worse for the Chennai-based franchise.

Earlier, MI, who elected to bowl after Kieron Pollard won the toss, had to make a forced change as Saurabh Tiwary replaced injured Rohit Sharma in the middle.

Kishan remained unbeaten at 68 that he took 37 balls to score, de Kock was not out at 46 after facing 37 balls.

COVID-19 Numbers as of 3 pm October 23
Drug manufacturer AstraZeneca announced Friday it will resume the trial of its experimental coronavirus vaccine in the US. And at least six states - Colorado, Indiana, Montana, Ohio, Oklahoma and Utah - reported their highest daily case counts.

MS Dhoni took on Rahul Chahar, smacking him for a huge maximum but the wily spinner bounced back brilliantly as he got the veteran to nick one off the very next delivery. I think it was a total team effort.

"We will look to finish the season well - by no means are we gonna give up 3 games, we want to win our last 3 games - but on the other hand, it's important we answer every question about all players as we head into the next auction cycle", he said. "So we've got to find a way to win the next three games and give guys opportunities to press cases for retention next year or for opportunities with other teams", added Fleming. "What you need to see is what is going wrong, this year hasn't been our year".

The former Indian captain MS Dhoni had shocked the entire cricket fraternity by announcing the news of his retirement from all the three formats of worldwide cricket on August 15, 2020. "It hasn't been our year, whether you lose by eight or 10 wickets, it hardly matters, but where we are at this stage of the tournament, it does hurt", he said. "Sometimes you don't actually have to be a leader".

"I've been lucky to get the first over, if it's going to swing here it's going to be up front".

"Focus area is always to improve as a team; what we need to do to improve as a team so that when we come up against RCB, we know what to do". Cumulatively there have been batting failures. You try to do the toughest thing, even when you're hurting, you try to smile and take it on the chin. That is what the youngsters want and I feel the boys have done that. "We have kept the dressing room like that and hopefully we can turn it around in the next three games at least for pride", Dhoni said. "A few more who are on the bench will get games in the coming three games".
