While we know a bit about what kind of person Ryan Wilder - portrayed by Javicia Leslie - will be, one of the big questions up in the air has been just what Ryan's Batsuit was going to look like.

Reactions to Batwoman's new look were largely positive on social media, including one from Leslie's co-star Camrus Johnson.

Mani, who has created many supersuits for the Arrowverse, said of the redesign, "As [Ryan] is a highly skilled fighter, encapsulating her raw, athletic and passionate nature was imperative", while "Javicia Leslie not only brings a fresh perspective, but physical strength to the role. It makes me really feel impressed". The redesign additionally options new supplies, that includes laser etching to create extra visible depth and a stronger silhouette.

"As Ryan embraces everything that makes her special, she adjusts to the suit to fit her physically and figuratively", Caroline said.

The suit embodies Ryan's shift from using the Batwoman persona for personal gain to discovering the importance of the superhero as a symbol to Gotham City, said executive producer Caroline Dries in a press release. The plot will see Javicia's character Ryan Wilder wear the suit originally worn by Ruby's character Kate Kane during the premiere, before switching into the new one after she decides to redesign it. "With the form-fitting suit and attractive Afro, we definitely nailed it!" says Leslie as reported by Variety. Oh, and so is a red tinge for her cape I see?

At the time she told Deadline: 'I am extremely proud to be the first Black actress to play the iconic role of Batwoman on television, and as a bisexual woman, I am honored to join this groundbreaking show which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community'.

Costume Designer Maya Mani, who has created numerous suits for the "Arrowverse", says of the redesign: "I was asked by Caroline Dries to design a Batsuit that was unique to the character of Ryan Wilder; as she is a highly skilled fighter, encapsulating her raw, athletic, and passionate nature was imperative". Janice translated that into what we're now.

And how's this for a change, Batwoman a.k.a. Ryan Wilder, has textured natural hair!

"I love the fact that Ryan is becoming her own Batwoman", added Leslie. According to her character description, she is "relatable, messy, loyal, a little goofy" and has been made to feel powerless her whole life.

What do you think about this new costume for Batwoman season 2?

The series is expected to return to The CW in January 2021.
