Southampton beat Premier League leader Everton 2-0 at St Mary's Stadium on Sunday with goals from James Ward-Prowse and Che Adams as Carlo Ancelotti's side became the final club to lose a game this season.

"Everton were very disappointing and that was a game that they would have earmarked to win".

The French chased Kyle Walker-Peters but stood on the defender's ankle. The Everton boss believed his side were punished for events in the Merseyside derby last weekend.

"The red card was a joke, it was not intentional, for sure it was not violent".

"Maybe all this talk all week against Pickford, against Richarlison, affected the decision", Ancelotti said, "and if so it's not right, it's not fair". We'll be sure to appeal.

Rodriguez has been instrumental for Everton as they have climbed to the top of the Premier League table.

"We didn't play well, Southampton were better than us and they deserved to win", Ancelotti told Sky Sports.

Christmas, other holidays threatened by rising COVID-19 cases ahead of Halloween
With a surge of COVID-19 cases over the weekend, B.C.'s top doctor announced new public health orders and safety recommendations. One school is located in the Fraser Health region and the other is located in the Interior Health region.

Southampton has recovered superbly from losing 5-2 at home to Tottenham in its second league game, picking up 10 points from a possible 12 in its next four games and keeping three clean sheets in the process. Sometimes you are not at your best, it came after a really good run for us, now we have to rejoice with the same spirit and faith.

"I told the players that winter was coming and we had to react".

An entertaining encounter got off to a fast start when Danny Ings picked out Ryan Bertrand and his pass found Nathan Redmond for a shot that whistled past the post.

In the same game, Jordan Pickford injured Virgil van Dijk and put him on the sidelines for months with a wild challenge that went unpunished because offside was called.

Southampton are looking more like the side they were in the summer when they finished last season so strongly.

Ward-Prowse passed into Ings, who returned the ball to the midfielder, who took one touch before firing into the far corner for his first goal of the season.
