Cheyenne Expecting Mostly Clear Skies for Halloween's Full Moon

Typically, every month witnesses one full moon and one new moon. These particles which should be wider than 900 nanometers should be able to affect the scattering of red light in the atmosphere which somehow makes the moon appears blue.

That's not all - this Halloween's full moon is also a rare blue moon.

While it's the rare Halloween movie that comes without a full moon, in real-life it's the rare Halloween that arrives under a full moon. In 2001, those in Central and Pacific time zones trick-or-treated under a full moon. Called a seasonal blue moon, this occurs about every 2.5 years. Apparently, this happens as the Earth's elliptical makes the smallest angle with respect to the horizon while eventually making the Moon appearing to be glowing and illuminating at its fullest.

"Another definition of the blue moon, perhaps the more commonly used due to its simplicity, is actually a mistake, made in the 1940s and perpetuated by radio shows and the Trivial Pursuit board game through the 1980s". "The word Blue Moon is not coined or recognized by International Astronomical Union (IAU), the highest body responsible for astronomy", the society said in a press release.

Sometimes blue moon also occurs in a 30-days month as it appeared on June 30, 2007, and is set to take place next on September 30, 2050.
