Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists Donny van de Beek will have a big part to play for Manchester United this season despite still waiting for his full Premier League debut.

The 23-year-old has only made four appearances for Manchester United from the bench in the Premier League this season as he bids to try and win a regular spot in the team.

Van de Beek will be hoping to make his first start for Manchester United in all competitions when the Red Devils take on RB Leipzig in the Champions League at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Speaking to Sky Sports where he was a pundit, Evra said United didn't need the player if he couldn't manage to feature in a game of Chelsea's magnitude.

It will be interesting to see how they utilise van de Beek's potential in the coming months.

The quick-thinking midfielder is quite versatile and so it means his lack of starts is even stranger as he could slot in at right-wing, attacking-midfield or central-midfield.

United signed Van de Beek from Ajax Amsterdam on a five-year contract in the close season with British media reporting that they paid the Dutch side an initial fee of 35 million pounds ($45.59 million). So cast your mind back to less stressful days and test your knowledge of past United arrivals and departures in our quiz below.

Late Penn State touchdown opens door for furious IN comeback
Penn State learned touchdowns aren't always the objective in football in its stunning 36-35 overtime loss to in on Saturday. Penn State shot itself in the foot for this entire game and that included the last few minutes of regulation.

While question marks linger over Van de Beek, Solskjaer is adamant the Dutchman's time will come and that it's always hard to decide who misses out on game time.

"It's really bad for a player like Donny to play six or seven games this year".

"Donny should not have gone to Manchester United". That is shocking for your match rhythm. I didn't start many games. "You have to want to play football every week, and such a club is then bad for your career".

"Donny should have waited for better prospects and signed for another club".

Should van de Beek have stayed at Ajax? You love them or you hate them when we have to play a big game, when you need to be strong, compact and run everywhere.

Klopp's methods ensured Fabinho settled in seamlessly before becoming a pivotal member of his squad. "I'd rather have that one than having to play players that are not ready".
