This launch was SpaceX's third try at getting this mission off the ground, after weather-related and data-review delays. In the past 60 days, 10 Starlink satellites have deorbited - eight from bulk launches, plus the two TinTin prototypes - according to Celestrack, a service from Analytical Graphics Inc.

Starlink's ultimate goal is to leapfrog what's now out there already with its existing low Earth orbit constellations.

The latter succeeded and returned in spectacular style. The rocket and payload are vertical at historic Launch Complex (LC-) 39A as teams continue their work.

SpaceX reported the result on Thursday as the company launched another 60 satellites into orbit to power its upcoming Starlink service, which is created to eventually offer 1Gbps download speeds.

Onsite at Kennedy SPace Center's Press Site, all cameras are poised to capture the flame and fury of ignition and liftoff of Falcon 9, 8:46 a.m. EDT, September 3, 2020.

The Starlink network is expected to become operational as soon as 800 satellites have been activated in the artificial mega constellation.

SpaceX is poised to launch their next batch of Starlink satellites aboard a Falcon 9 today, now scheduled to liftoff at 8:46 a.m. EDT. The agency is doling out $20 billion to Internet service providers who can connect customers in rural and underprivileged areas.

SpaceX hasn't said how much the Starlink service will cost yet or precisely when it will be available.

However, SapceX's Starlink has proved controversial for astronomers.

These are hoped to make them far less reflective, but at a recent satellite conference, only one suggestion was made to eliminate the impacts entirely: launch fewer or no low Earth orbit satellites.

Conditions improved just before 7.19pm local time launch time.

This mission featured the rare return of a Falcon 9 directly to dry land.

It is also worth mentioning that this launch carried an exact of 60 Starlink satellites, something that hadn't happened from a long time.
