Caron Butler joining Heat as assistant coach

The two-time NBA All-Star and NBA Champion, Caron Butler has reportedly agreed to join the Heat as an assistant coach for next season, which is scheduled to begin December 22nd.

Butler was seen as a "difficult teammate" for years, but that notion was dismissed after he led the underdog Heat all the way to the NBA Finals last season.

"He's just an incredible rock of stability and leadership and mentorship".

Butler qualified for two All-Star Games in 2007 and 2008 while he was a member of the Washington Wizards and won an National Basketball Association championship with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011.

Haslem started off his National Basketball Association career back in 2003 with the Heat and has stayed there ever since, signing a total of nine contracts (including this one).

In all, he's played 858 games (500 starts) with Miami, averaging 7.6 points and 6.7 rebounds.

Butler was the No. 10 pick by the Heat in the 2002 draft and spent two seasons with the team, getting moved to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2004 as part of the deal that brought Shaquille O'Neal to Miami.

The Racine, WI native has served as a Turner Sports NBA analyst since 2018, including being featured on NBA TV's signature studio show, NBA Game Time, and NBA on TNT's PlayersOnly franchise.

Along with Miami, Butler's career included stops in Los Angeles, the Lakers and Clippers, Washington, Dallas, Milwaukee, Oklahoma City, Sacramento and Detroit. In addition, Butler hosted a podcast Tuff Juice with Caron Butler and in 2015 wrote an autobiography (Tuff Juice).
