Al Mohler, president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, made waves this year when he pivoted on his 2016 stance against President Donald Trump, who he called at the time "the Great Evangelical Embarrassment". "That has to be a seamless transition", he told "Meet the Press".

The transition efforts at the Environmental Protection Agency will be led by Patrice Simms, an environmental attorney who served as a deputy assistant attorney general in the Justice Department's environment and natural resources division under former President Barack Obama, the AP reports.

Trump supporters are also clinging to hope that recounts could reverse state results, even though experts have said Biden's margins appear insurmountable.

Biden has also named several members of the LGBTQ community to his transition team, The Advocate reports. "They're independent of us, and they haven't declared that just yet". Skelly served in multiple roles in the Obama administration starting in 2013 and was the first openly transgender person to be appointed to a position by a US president.

Without her "ascertainment", Biden's transition team doesn't have the access usually granted to the president-elect, including to government office space, funding and important national security information.

The tree will be decorated over the coming weeks, with added branches and more than 5 miles of lights. It was taken to a vet on Wednesday and got a clean bill of health.

Other advisers to Biden have said that any investigations into Trump would be "very situational", plus they would run on a separate track from the state level investigations like the one into his taxes.

US Representative Cedric Richmond, who was a national co-chair of Biden's campaign and former chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, will vacate a House seat in Louisiana to join as a senior adviser and director of the White House Office of Public Engagement.

During her victory speech in DE last Saturday, Harris paid tribute to Black women, who she called the "backbone of our democracy".

'You know that I've been unable to get the briefings that ordinarily would have come by now, ' Biden said during a brief glimpse of the meeting offered to a small pool of reporters.

"If we have to wait until (inauguration day) January 20 to start that planning, it puts us behind for a month, a month and a half", Biden said. She has a degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
