"It's a mighty shame that someone with such a colossal platform is using it to exclude disabled and neuro diverse actors from their own narratives", tweeted another user.

Sia continued to defend herself, writing on Twitter, "Fucking bullshit. You have no f-king idea because you weren't there and haven't seen the movie".

The first teaser trailer for the movie was just released and it also features dancer Maddie Ziegler, who plays the title character, and Tony Award victor Leslie Odom Jr. "F-king sad nobody's even seen the dang movie. My heart has always been in the right place", she tweeted.

The musician later tweeted: "Grrrrrrrrrr".

"I've never referred to music as disabled", Sia explained to one critic who asked why she didn't cast an autistic actor to play Music. Together, they overcome myriad obstacles in a film that explores community and togetherness.

When one Twitter user, who claimed to be an autistic actor, argued that "zero effort was made to include anyone who is actually autistic", the singer replied and wrote, "Maybe you're just a bad actor".

She also noted that it would be "cruel, not kind" to cast an autistic actor who was similar to Music because "She found it extremely stressful and overwhelming", which suggests that Sia wasn't willing to accommodate her set for an autistic actor's comfort.

But more criticism followed for Sia over the character as one fan said it was "totally unacceptable".

Reps for Sia didn't immediately return Page Six's request for comment.
