The 'lie' that triggered South Australia's lockdown

Mr Marshall said the actions of the worker from The Stamford medi-hotel had meant contact tracers and the rest of the state was put in a "very hard situation".

"This person has numerous associates, persons of interest that we are now trying to identify and locate that we would not have had to do so had they been truthful from the beginning", said Stevens.

Mr Marshall called the behaviour of the individual "disgraceful".

Australia's once hard-hit state of Victoria has gone three weeks without a new COVID-19 case for the first time since February.

The person who lied to South Australia's contract tracing team and caused the entire state to plunge into lockdown won't be fined for his actions, because a mechanism to do so literally doesn't exist.

A whole new group of people are now required to be contacted and self-isolate following the person's dishonesty.

The original six-day lockdown that began Thursday will end at midnight Saturday.

Caps of 100 people will be placed at hospitality premises and table bookings will be limited to 10 people.

Funerals will be allowed 50 people and weddings will return to an allowance of 150, but guests need to stay seated and there will be no dancing.

Eventually, in December 2017, Apple did admit to the battery slowdowns, leading the company to issue a rare apology . It is termed as "Batterygate" and sits alongside other big Apple blunders, such as bendgate.

[Chief Health Officer] Professor Spurrier was questioned about why a security guard at a medi-hotel was allowed to also work at a public pizza place, and whether rules would be changed to restrict that.

Religious ceremonies will be restricted to 100 people.

Personal care, including hairdressers and beauty therapists, will be required to wear masks during services.

The spokeswoman said the government will release further details about the "reset" program and its response to the interim report of the inquiry "soon".

The person told authorities he had only purchased a pizza from the shop when in fact he had worked several shifts at the location.

While the outbreak was still worrying, Marshall said restrictions would be lifted early with a stay-at-home order ending at midnight on Saturday when most businesses would also be allowed to open.

It will remain in place until Sunday when a permit system is implemented.

Another 44 people are suspected to have the virus but are waiting on test results.

"The first effect from this lie is we went into a six-day lockdown", he said.
