A new update is now live for the Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa 3 smartwatches.

Fitbit announced today that Fitbit OS 5.1 is now available for its Sense and Versa 3 smartwatches with Google Assistant support, Bluetooth calling, and more.

Fitbit launched two new smartwatches in 2020: The high-end Sense with advanced health tracking features including ECG, stress detection and temperature tracking; and the Versa 3, a continuation of the Versa line with design upgrades and built-in Global Positioning System. Moreover, the update also adds new blood oxygen monitoring features and support for audible replies from Alexa.

Ethiopia tells Tigrayans to save themselves in push on rebel capital
Abiy accuses the Tigrayan leaders of revolting against central authority and attacking federal troops in the town of Dansha. Its new head hinted this week at potential forgiveness for TPLF rank-and-file, while the party itself is now outlawed.

The watches' messaging and calling functionality is also being enhanced with the latest update.

Switching between both voice assistants, i.e. the Google Assistant and Alexa, is pretty simple. Switch by going to the Fitbit app and finding the Voice Assistant option within your smartwatch model in the account tab. "Google Assistant will roll out to additional markets, including Australia, Canada, India, Ireland, New Zealand, Singapore and the U.K.in English in late 2020", the company says.

As you may have noticed, Fitbit OS 5.1 also brings the ability to reply to your queries via the smartwatch's speakers. Previously, Alexa would just display responses on the screen. In fact, the bulk of these activities could only be achieved with your phone, as there is very little Google Assistant functionality in the watch itself- all voice prompts are routed via Bluetooth back to the phone for processing. Both the smartwatches can now answer calls directly via the speakers and microphone. That's a great addition. With the new update, readings can be taken automatically overnight irrespective of the watchface you are using.
