Google may pay you for doing simple tasks on your smartphone

Google is now testing an app called "Task Mate" in India that lets users earn by completing various tasks listed on the app, according to reports. According to the Google Play Store listing of the Task Mate app, users can also earn money by completing tasks such as translating a script from English to the local language.

For payment purposes, you'll have to link an account with a third-party processor.

According to a Reddit post via 9to5Google, the tasks are simple, sourced from "businesses around the world", and are categorized as "Sitting or Field" tasks.

It's not immediately clear as to whether there will be a time limit for the tasks to be completed and if they will be transferred to someone else if the original user fail to complete it within a given timeframe. You can begin earning once you complete the task.

Google is beta testing a paid crowdsourcing app "Task Mate" in India. As you can see in the attached screenshots, the app is now available in Early Access, and it's "limited to selected testers" through a referral system. The app is available to download on Google Play but there's more to it than simply downloading and using it. At least Task Mate seems to pay in actual cash though, rather than mere Play Store credit. Basically, it has two types of tasks - "Sitting" or "Field Tasks". The tasks will be assigned in accordance with the user's location. While how much money can be earned hasn't been specified but users will have to register an e-wallet account or the money can be "cashed out" with an in-app payment partner. One can download and install but one cannot move forward when it asks for an invitation code.

As of now, the equation between local business and Google is unclear. The other aspect that needs to be addressed is the current screenshots show earnings in dollars.

The data collected by such tasks will help Google "improve mapping services and bring business in your local area online." .
