County COVID cases continue to increase

24, there were 870 newly reported COVID-19 cases across the state and the death toll has reached 652, according to data compiled over the past 24 hours by MTN News.

State officials laid out new covid-19 mitigation efforts but stopped short of issuing a statewide stay-at-home order, instead advising Pennsylvanians to stay home and putting a one-night ban on alcohol sales Wednesday.

The numbers decreased slightly from Monday's 2,259 cases and caused the rolling weekly average to settle at a peak of 2,672 cases a day. "Of those, 1,203 patients were in the ICU and 668 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators", Gomez said. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.

The number of tests administered within the last 7 days between November 16 and November 22 is 399,573 with 44,502 positive cases. There were 38,668 test results reported to the department through 10 p.m., November 23.

There are 13,617 individuals who have a positive viral antigen test and are considered probable cases and 643 individuals who have a positive serology test and either COVID-19 symptoms or a high-risk exposure.

The most deaths were from Bernalillo, Doña Ana and Sandoval counties with nine, four and three, respectively.

The news comes after the county set a single-day record for newly confirmed COVID-19 cases of 92 on Friday. "The Public Health website also contains information for COVID-19 cases and their close contacts, as well as links to additional resources".

Approximately 14,146 of our total cases are among health care workers.
