President-elect Joe Biden on Friday outlined a plan to administer Covid-19 vaccines to the USA population that includes opening up eligibility to get more people vaccinated, creating more vaccination sites and taking measures to increase the supply and distribution of the vaccines.

A fact sheet provided by his transition team says Biden's plan "encourages states to open up eligibility beyond healthcare workers and long-term care facility residents and staff, to include frontline essential workers like teachers, first responders, grocery store employees, and anyone who is 65 and older". Biden said his administration is going to use the full strength of the federal government to ramp up supply of the vaccines.

"We warned Democratic governors they were doing severe harm to local economies", she said. "A 100 million in 100 days needs to be seen as only a start". Biden said that the process of establishing priority groups is driven by science, but the problem is the implementation has been too rigid and confusing.

Let me be clear; I am convinced we can get it done, and this is the time to set big goals to pursue them with courage and conviction because the health of the nation is literally at stake. Neighborhood pharmacies would also be enlisted as vaccination sites, he said. "The honest truth is this: things will get worse before they get better", he said. As Biden has pledged in the past, he will use the Defense Production Act to maximize the manufacturing of the vaccine and increase the supply.

This programme will expand beyond access in neighbourhoods across the country so that people can make an appointment and get shot, conveniently show up at a particular time and get it done quickly, he said.

"President-elect Biden has asked Congress to make an historic investment in expanding the public health workforce, funding 100,000 public health workers to almost triple the country's community health roles", the fact sheet reads.

"We need to be getting to more than 3 million vaccinations a day, rapidly", said Wen.

The feature would be convenient in an environment where users wear masks, which are often incompatible with facial recognition. Apple also has plans for a thinner and lighter entry-level iPad that uses the same design as the 2019 iPad Air .

Biden is also moving more aggressively than the Trump administration to address a shortage of people available to administer the vaccine.

He is also promising to reimburse states for using National Guard troops to help in vaccine distribution, a remarkable deployment of military force almost a year after the pandemic first hit.

When President-elect Joe Biden assumes the Oval Office on Wednesday, Congress will undoubtedly begin work at the Capitol Building on an ambitious plan to reopen most schools closed by COVID-19.

Under Biden's multipronged strategy, about $20 billion would be allocated for a more disciplined focus on vaccination, on top of some $8 billion already approved by Congress. Biden has called for setting up mass vaccination centres and sending mobile units to hard-to-reach areas.

The plan also calls for hiring 100,000 public health workers in roles such as vaccine outreach and contact tracing.

The President-elect has received both doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine, and was administered both shots live on camera while reassuring the American public of its safety.

Of 30.6 million doses distributed as of Thursday, than 11.1 million have been administered, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
