Leicester took up the mantel of league leaders after their win over Chelsea last night and Manchester City moved to the summit with victory over Aston Villa this evening, but United will restore their place at the top by the end of the night should they beat Fulham. But goals from Edinson Cavani and Paul Pogba gave the Red Devils all three points.

In this kind of form he is a joy to watch, and it is a shame supporters have not been inside stadiums for his best run of games in a United shirt.

Pogba also netted the victor at Burnley last week and his influence is growing in this United side firmly in contention for the title. "Today we felt his position was in midfield and what a goal with his left foot. We had not woken up but good reaction".

"He [Paul Pogba] has really come on". That is key with Paul, getting him match fit and running fit and he is now. "He played very well".

But Solskjaer is STILL refusing to say his side are in contention for the title, adding: "It is always going to be talked about that when you are halfway through and top of the league but we are not thinking about this. It is such an unpredictable season".

Speaking afterwards, matchwinner Pogba described his victor as "beautiful" in what was a "difficult" game. We lost two games by more than two goals, that narrative was instantly in people's heads, "Oh look, it's the same Fulham". "I saw the goalkeeper and tried to hit it there and it went very well". "It is my left foot so I tried to look and go for it, not think too much". In addition, a midfielder who gets into the area like him has scored just one goal and given one assist. "It wasn't my favourite goal ever but it was still handsome".

"I was really mad after the Liverpool game for not scoring the chance".

"The one thing with Joe is he is an unbelievable professional that comes in every day wanting to get better". Most important was the win today.

"No we didn't know about the Manchester City result, we just knew we had to get our result". I love winning. It is all about winning. "We have to do us and that's it". The day we lose I will be angry again. I can understand why. We've all been accustomed to seeing Joe's quality, his technical quality.

"In the second half we had some big opportunities".

Asked if it was better than his victor at Burnley, he said: 'I would say yes because it was with the left foot. It is something to keep working on.

"That will probably be the difference for us".
