But it turns out, getting the role wasn't an easy process for the 24-year-old British actor. In a recent chat with Black Panther star Daniel Kaluuya for Variety, he called the process "horrible".

This, after Tom endured six auditions and two screen tests over seven months to finally score the acrobatic part of Peter Parker. "I must've done six auditions, and they don't tell you anything", he said.

"There was me and six other kids, and [Robert] Downey [Jr.] was there, so we all tested with Downey, which was insane".

"I think I will try and do both [Marvel movies and indie movies]", Tom Holland said of what's coming next in his career.

"It's the best audition I've ever done". My agents told me that Marvel likes you to learn the words exactly - you can't improvise.

Holland also noted that when he got sick during his first days on set, Downey took care of him.

Notably, Piyush Chawla was CSK's most expensive buy at Rs 6.75 crore in the 2019 player auction. He too could not play last season due to personal reasons .

But his confidence soon faded when he saw a post by Marvel on Instagram, which suggested someone else had been chosen. He said they all tested with Downey, but his rapport with the movie star just felt natural. "By that point, it had been an wonderful enough of an experience that if I hadn't got the part, I would've felt like I'd at least achieved something to get to that point. So I wouldn't go out of my way to watch a horror movie, but Jordan Peele killed it". "However, Holland was convinced he would get fired from the role after this movie because "'Civil War' hadn't come out yet, and I just didn't hear anything from anyone", he said.

Holland was over the moon when he was given the part. I'm just excited for it to open and I want to go ride it again'. But seriously, I feel that with SPIDER'S SHADOW we're exploring some dark situations with Spidey and the Marvel Universe, while making it cool and fun to read.

Holland didn't actually hear from Marvel until after he learned he got the part by reading an article online, which led to him breaking his laptop in excitement. It wasn't until Marvel released the news to the press that he found out he would be the next Spider-Man.

And that's when he lost the plot and jumped for joy.

'I flipped it up in the air. It fell off my bed; my dog went nuts, I ran downstairs.

Tom continued: 'It was all about preparation, and really setting out the character beats and figuring out how I was going to get from A to B in each section. I got the part!' There's no way that's real.
