Multiple states have reported they are running out of doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, resulting in the cancellation of tens of thousands of scheduled first-dose appointments, according to a new report from the Associated Press.

However, on Monday, the Nordic country's health authority said that it found no evidence of a direct link between the spate of deaths and the vaccine.

Barely a month after vaccines first became available in the USA, states are facing frustrating supply shortages for seemingly no discernible reason, at the same time that the federal government is directing them to ramp up their vaccine rollouts, the AP reported.

Japan has secured rights to at least 564 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines from several Western developers, the biggest quantity in Asia and more than enough for its 126 million population. This is how Israel is distributing the vaccine.

More than 12,400 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Israel after getting inoculated by the Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine, including 69 people who had taken their second jab. The hope is that partial immunity among many people is better than fuller immunity for fewer people.

UAE authorises emergency use of Russia's Sputnik V vaccine against COVID-19
Apart from Sputnik V and EpiVacCorona , there are several other COVID-19 vaccines being administered around the world. Russian Federation began testing EpiVacCorona , which is being developed by Siberia's Vector Institute, in November.

But in the rare event that the same kind isn't available, English officials say it's OK to give whichever vaccine is available for the second shot.

Newfoundland is reporting 3,258 new vaccinations administered over the past seven days for a total of 8,549 doses given.

According to Israel, the single dose appears to only be around 33% effective, a significant loss. Sera from trial participants was found to inhibit the pseudovirus bearing the United Kingdom strain at the same level of efficacy as the unmutated Wuhan SARS-CoV-2 S protein.

Clinical Research Institute (ICR) director, Dr Kalairasu Peariasamy said the discovery of the vaccine was an important milestone in the fight against the virus, which has claimed the lives of almost three million people worldwide over the past 12 months. It is also using the AstraZeneca/Oxford University vaccine, where studies suggest that a spacing out doses could actually provide more protection.
