He had 91 career receptions for 934 yards and 11 touchdowns with the Giants, Dallas, Detroit and New Orleans.

Detroit hopes it has that in Dan Campbell, who signed a six-year deal to become the Lions' head coach.

If anyone tells Campbell he signed up to coach a bunch of losers, it wouldn't be surprising to hear him quote from one of The Dude's memorable retorts.

Campbell cussed, dropping an S-bomb - and then he guaranteed his Lions players will be some of the toughest on the planet! The NFL has just four minority coaches: Pittsburgh's Mike Tomlin, Washington's Ron Rivera, Miami's Brian Flores and Saleh, who is the first Muslim American coach in the league. Before that, Hilliard was the wide receivers coach in Washington for seven seasons (2012 and 2014-19).

Campbell took over for Joe Philbin that season and will now take over for Matt Patricia, who was sacked during the 2020 season, which ended with the Lions going 5-11 to finish in last place in the NFC North for a third straight campaign. His playing career ended after the 2008 season, finishing a four-year run with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Campbell finished with a record of 5-7.

Peacock already carries some soccer, and Sports Business Daily notes it recently announced plans to stream speed skating. Sports Network is best known for carrying NHL and English Premier League games as well as NASCAR and IndyCar races.

Campbell said he also made a list of things he could have done better.

The Lions haven't made the playoffs since 2016, but have pounced upon a new head coach in Campbell and a new general manager in Brad Holmes who were part of postseason squads. According to TMZ, Campbell sounded ready to crack some skulls.

"When you come in here, you're going to get beat up", Campbell said.

He also said the team is going to take on the identity of the city it represents. "It's found a way to overcome adversity". "And when you knock us down, we're gonna get up". All right? And when you punch us back, we're going to smile at you. "And on the way up, we're going to bite a knee cap off. Alright?" All right? And we're going to stand up and it's going to take two more shots to knock us down.
