Senturk was discharged from the hospital later yesterday and returned home with Boncuk.

A truly heartwarming story out of northern Turkey reveals the lengths that "Man's Best Friend" will go to in order to keep a watchful eye on his or her master.

She then began making daily visits to the facility, keeping vigil outside the entrance, returning every morning thereafter.

Hachiko was the story of a Japanese Akita dog remembered for his remarkable loyalty to his owner, Hidesaburo Ueno for whom he continued to wait for over nine years following Ueno's death.

The pet, named Boncuk - which means bead - followed the ambulance that transported its owner, Cemal Senturk, to hospital in the Black Sea city of Trabzon on January 14.

A hospital security guard told Turkey's Demirören News Agency that Boncuk never attempted to go inside the hospital.

Boncuk came back every day even after family members tried to take her home.

To try to reassure and comfort her, Senturk communicated with Boncuk through the window during his stay at the facility.

Aynur Egeli, Senturk's daughter, told AP that every time the dog was taken home it would run back to the hospital. "She runs away from home and comes here, all by herself", she said. "Boncuk has behaved really sweet during the six days and has managed to capture the love and affection of the whole staff".

Hospital staff said she never ventured inside, but waited patiently for hours outside the entrance.

"Senturk and Boncuk were reunited on Wednesday â€" six days after Senturk was admitted to hospital â€" when he was briefly brought outside in his wheelchair, the AP reported.

"She's very used to me. And I miss her, too, constantly", Senturk said. "The dog is very close to us, like a human being, and it makes you happy", Senturk was quoted as saying.
